We don't want/expect everyone to be driving a Mercedes SUV. We do want/expect everyone to be driving a Tesla 3 (or equivalent) in the near future. Not exactly clickbait headline but I get your point.
There's probably a decent conversation worth having about this, somewhere in between those 2 extremes though.
