I enjoy this guy's MacGyver style, but I think he'd get a lot further with his projects if he invested some of his time and youtube money into a small machine shop and requisite skills.
If you're into homemade jet engines, check out Igor Negoda's channel (Игорь Негода) It's in Russian but the autotranslated subtitles are usually comprehensible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYFYZ-g7fzA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYFYZ-g7fzA
- userbinator 4y agoThat Russian one goes beyond the jet engine and he actually builds a plane around it and flies it too. Highly recommended.
- grogenaut 4y agoI don't think he has the space or the money for it. I'm hoping his workign with a metal 3d printing company will be an equivaletn.
- junon 4y agoHe doesn't have the money for it.
- 1letterunixname 4y agoThere's a 20-25 year old video of a Slavic-speaker test firing either a ducted fan or microturbine with an afterburner complete with adjustable iris. Fuel consumption was insane, 250 mL or more per second. I haven't seen any hobby afterburners with fuel injection, iris control, and water injection.
