High risk, high reward: Startups are still eager to mine space rocks
- JCharante 4y agoAs an avid space-based RTS player, it seems obvious that humanity should focus their efforts on mining space rocks. It's really dissapointing to see that there's not a huge investment of capital from developed nations to extract these resources on behalf of their country and that it's been mostly left to private enterprises.
- deafpolygon 4y agoI wonder if mining space rocks would have disastrous effects. What if those "rocks" are essential for maintaining equilibrium in orbit?
- Turskarama 4y agoOrbital mechanics may not be trivial, but it is simple enough that we know this isn't the case. If Jupiter doesn't throw us out of orbit a few tiny rocks aren't going to do it.
- jasfi 4y agoIt would also be great to keep the manufacturing of products that needs these materials in space, to avoid pollution on earth. Jeff Bezos wanted to put factories in space, but that might take some time.
