Ampere's new workstation could bring in a whole new dawn for developers
- veqq 4y agoA bit tangential but: > While the 750W power unit does present a pretty hefty environmental consideration, Ampere will offer an optional liquid cooling assembly. In discussions of new CPUs, GPUs etc. I often see people comparing consumption, who however are regularly buying newer units as if the decreased power consumption wasn't undone by the massive footprint of a new chip. This workstation doesn't seem (operative term here!) significantly different from typical servers in terms of power or consumption, so I don't see why it would matter overall.
