Tesla owner butt-dialed a $4,280 Autopilot upgrade, still waiting on a refund
- cs702 4y agoMobile apps should require more than a couple of taps before charging for a $4K+ upgrade.
- Graziano_M 4y agoTesla owners _claims to have_ butt-dialed an upgrade.
- lancesells 4y agoOk, so let's say he's lying and has buyer's remorse on the day of the bank charge. Is there any reason to not refund him?
- uni_rule 4y agoMaybe if it does a chargeback the Tesla will repo itself by driving back to the dealer due to the stolen bits and bytes lol
- edude03 4y agoThat's my question as well. I don't think the owner is lying but as far as I know tesla had a 30 day refund policy on Autopilot. And even if that's not true - still seems like it would be straight forward to give him a refund on unused software
- MrOwnPut 4y ago> Instead, he processed a stop payment request through his credit card company However, the article doesn't say when he did the stop payment request or if it went through. If it did go through the article is wrong that he is "waiting on a refund" because the payment would have been reversed so there's nothing to refund.
- brianwawok 4y agoWell, Tesla will eat the 2.9% credit card fee on that. So roughly $124? Is your business going to eat $124 every time someone pushes the wrong button twice?

- rootusrootus 4y agoSince the company absolutely controls the car and can enforce revocation of the license, why does the purchase have to be non-refundable to begin with?
- kotaKat 4y ago1: This article is from October 2020 and needs a [2020] tag 2: Tesla fixed this in January 2020 and allows a 48 hour refund window, provided you haven't already requested a refund for that item, implying he bought FSD, then refunded it, then bought it again.
- zimpenfish 4y ago> Tesla fixed this in January 2020 2021? 2022? They surely can't have fixed it 8 months before this happened.
- suddenclarity 4y agoThey kinda did, which is why OP is insinuating that there's something else going on and the guy in the article might not have been completely honest. Note how most of the article is refering to things happening in January of 2020. I've seen some weird things though, so I'm not as convinced as OP. Anything can happen. With that said, I don't see the relevancy of a three year old story unless there are any recent cases.
