- ranguna 3y agoDidn't know hetzner had a fully managed global caching solution, nice.
- re-thc 3y agoAny links to it? Can't find 1 on the website.
- robjan 3y agoThey don't
- ranguna 3y agoAh so the OP lied, great.
- locustous 3y agoI'm only describing egress pricing for serving content, not CDN. If you're in the same region, another DNS lookup is going to be more costly than a CDN will be worth in proximity.
- re-thc 3y agoDepends. Some CDN are more than worth it. Hetzner has weak DDoS protection for example. Some CDN have caches inside the ISP network. It doesn't even get out. There are also cases where the local ISP may not peer with you even if you are in the same region. OVH was famous for this in Asia. It's not enough to be in the same region.
- locustous 3y agoDifferent perspectives from different requirements. In my case I have to serve API requests that can't be proxied. Most of the data is API, it's bigger than the statics. Using a CDN for static assets for North America just doesn't seem worth it to me.
- jacooper 3y agoSince when does hetzner have a CDN?, unless you mean storage boxes which aren't even close. And they aren't even comparable to normal object storage, since data is protected by a single raid cluster.
