I think looking back to the 1960’s from the digital age is distorting history. Comic books were low art, cheaply printed, cheap, and tossed away in the trash.

I think looking back to the 1960’s from the digital age is distorting history. Comic books were low art, cheaply printed, cheap, and tossed away in the trash. Copying from a comic book and not giving credit is a sneaky rotten thing at best, but comics were childish and low-brow. Lichtenstein is like making a joke. I read Warhol by Gopnick and you get an idea about the pop art movement. Low-brow references were the material of their work just as much as their paint and canvases.
