I worked for a company once that had no official policy that you HAD to use their company issues laptop. You were allowed to use your own. But, they would give you this speech of how they _strongly_ advise you to accept their laptop because in the event your personal laptop is stolen or hacked into and company source code is stolen, you will be held personally liable and sued.
So many questions about this. Has this ever happened? An individual employee sued like this for not maliciously handing over source code, but just having their laptop stolen. And if I'm poor and can't even get approved for a car loan, why is the company allowing me to take this risk and potentially own them millions in a law suit?
