There's a "Twilight Zone" episode where the power goes out on an entire block -- all except one man's house. He can't explain it; and eventually the neighbors come to the conclusion it's an alien invasion and the aliens have spared him because he's their covert helper. The surprise twist is that two aliens did in fact take out the power on the block -- all but one house -- gloating over how easy it was to get the humans to turn on each other. "The monsters are coming to Maple Street," Rod Serling says at the end. "Or maybe, they're already here."
