Making an Alphorn from Scratch (2020)
- not_your_mentat 4y agoI'm still waiting for that Alphorn rhythm game Microsoft promised. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUBQknWUEYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUBQknWUEYU
- somat 4y agoI like to think this is the true web. A person makes something interesting and wants to share it with the world. No SPA, no SEO, just a straightforward simple webpage. Plus that alphorn was gorgeous, well done, with a hearty cheer and a round of applause.
- elhudy 4y agoThis is super cool! Curious what is the advantage to carving from glued wood laminations rather than carving from solid wood? Is it just more consistent (i.e. you control where the knots are)? I know nothing about woodworking - apologies if this is a silly questions.
- robto 4y agoI imagine the advantage is mainly in cost - getting a chunk of walnut that large is going to be many times more expensive than getting the boards necessary to laminate the same shape.
- fifticon 4y agoWe live in jaded times. I first misread the title as 'making AIporn from scratch'.
