This is kind of like Biden "exposing" that the US would defend Taiwan against China if China attacked. Yes, in theory, this was ambiguous. But not really. No one with knowledge of the area should have had any doubt that Israel had nuclear weapons.
The ambiguity was so that the US could pretend that Israel didn't, similar to the US ambiguity on defending Taiwan was so that China could pretend that the US did not have a "two China" policy. The US obviously does have a two China policy, but doesn't see a reason to cause a kerfluffle by saying so. The US also obviously knows that Israel has nuclear weapons, and so does Iran, and everyone else, but it is for various nuclear-proliferation-policy related reasons easier for Israel to be theoretically ambiguous on this. But the ambiguity has been less and less plausible for years now.
