Post, Hive, T2, Bluesky, now Notes, not to mention all the other microblogging adjacent apps that have been floated (Cohost, Tumblr are the two that come to mind).
Can we please stop with the walled garden fragmentation? Each one of these services is a blatant ripoff, and none are going to take off because it's impossible to pick one, they are all the same, and one friend is on Hive, one on Post. Ugh. Best just stay on twitter.
IMO, only way forward is the fediverse if you are planning to launch something microblogging adjacent. That way, users don't need to abandon everyone else if they pick you, because that's a pretty damn hard sell otherwise.
- BulgarianIdiot 4y agoIt was best to stay on Twitter, but Elon has worked long and hard to change that. Just to remind everyone, Twitter arose as an alternative to RSS/Atom feeds, whose main purpose wasn't the text message, but the link. Twitter where you can't link makes no sense. At least not before a long evolution to make it so. And we've not had this evolution happen, and Elon fired the people who could've implemented it in a reasonable timeframe. It's all a complete disaster.
