I other words, 18% of the population.
This also means 82% do not fall under this category.
Obviously 60M sounds better than 18%, but horrible misrepresented title.
- JauntTrooper 3y agoIt's 62 million households, not people. 41% of households. And that's their conservative estimate.
- zubiaur 3y agoCorrect. The article’s title is horribly written though. After reading it, I had the same skepticism as the parent commenter. The article does have the important facts that you summarized. Somebody screwed up with that terrible terrible title.
- zubiaur 3y agoIt gets worse, the numbers on article’s summary of the paper do not even match the paper’s abstract. Not off by much, but these people are writing as if numbers are subject to stylistic reinterpretation.
- Teever 3y agoYou know what's horribly written? The tax law in America so that rent seeking entities like Intuit and HR Block can take advantage of people. Let's overlook the terribly written article for a second here and focus on the real issue.
- codeddesign 3y agoRead the title.
- Rebelgecko 3y agoIf you check out the article, it has some interesting stats about that. Turns out not everyone files taxes, and many people file together, so it's actually closer to half than 18%!
