- voz_ 4y agoThis question is in poor faith.
- lm28469 4y agoNot really, I've been digging for a while and I didn't find any ground breaking projects It's all nice and cool but most of the projects are toys and/or junior level generated boilerplate It's good for summarizing, rephrasibing and other neat features but that's about it, a far cry from the oracle some people seem to worship
- belval 4y agoThey didn't say ChatGPT, they said "AI". In which case simply Googling will get you a seemingly never ending list of very real products: AWS: https://aws.amazon.com/machine-learning/ml-use-cases/ https://aws.amazon.com/machine-learning/ml-use-cases/ Azure: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/cognitive-services/#api https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/cognitive-service... Google: https://cloud.google.com/products/ai https://cloud.google.com/products/ai
- nickthegreek 4y agoOracle to worship? There are no serious people doing any such thing. I don't even know of clowns doing that. Is this twitter discourse, a strawman or more poor faith?
- medvezhenok 4y agoChatGPT is quite good at organizing text into taxonomies, error correction, anomaly detection, data cleaning, etc. I bet there are a lot of companies out there where that's a non-trivial percentage of their workflow (I know that in my case, we have reconsidered several internal projects in light of ChatGPT doing a better job). It already does translation on the level / better than Google Translate, without being specifically trained for it (as one example). And it can play chess without a specialized model.
- tester457 4y agoTo be fair, quick and easy toy projects and boilerplate saves an incredible amount of time.
- lamp987 4y agoI use it as a Google search and text summarizer. So far seems to be the only truly useful thing to me. So I imagine services for that will appear. Maybe Google itself will incorporate it to stay relevant.
- yao420 4y agoCopilot? I’m paying the $10 a month and I hate subscriptions.
- bagels 4y agoAdvertising.
- lexandstuff 4y agoI use GPT4 many times a day. Instead of Googling for an answer, I will ask GPT4. Often, I will describe a function I want and have GPT4 write it. I use it to reformat strings, summarise text, and perform many other functions. It is the most useful tool I have ever used as a programmer. It's absolutely not a "hype train".
- docandrew 4y agoI’ve used ChatGPT to give me script templates, write a README in markdown (it even came up with appropriate build commands), write an annual performance report, and answer questions on topics from FAA regulations to Kubernetes. Copilot does a pretty good job as a “junior engineer” to hammer out first drafts for me. I’m sure there’s a good deal of over-promising, overexuberant salesmen trying to make a quick buck from it too a la crypto, but the technology is absolutely useful and providing real value as-is.
- xyzzy4747 4y agoI personally find ChatGPT extremely useful for coding.
- chadcmulligan 4y agoOne application I can see is games, ChatGPT in games would be awesome
- quickthrower2 4y agoDepends what you mean by AI. If you mean machine learning then lots of things. …unlocks phone using face and then asks it to translate something to French…
