- GavinMcG 3y agoYes, fine, but lacking all naiveté is a horrifying view of the world. We must have mechanisms for achieving justice after wrongdoing, and have faith that we can trust each other to do the right thing. Cf. Shaw: “The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
- ColanR 3y agoBut even the unreasonable must first see the world as it is, so that he can adapt it to himself. I'm not advocating that we accept the status quo, but I do take issue with not seeing the status quo for what it is.
