I have 10 startup ideas, all of which I could make a persuasive case for. Having the ideas as never been my problem. If someone could come up with a tool to overcome my fear of failure that would be great, maybe it could be written in rust.
- totetsu 4y agoMore likely written in dust
- damascus 4y agoI think that tool is called: therapy
- 23B1 4y ago"Fail Again. Fail Better." - Beckett
- jimhi 4y agoLaunch and continually market at least 6 of them and one might be successful in my case
- ahstilde 4y agobut that's literally what you're supposed to do. it's not about the failure, it's about the reps
- SuoDuanDao 4y agosorta. I heard you're supposed to try them sequentially so as to not lose focus.
- flashgordon 4y agoOne of the best (not necessarily embarrassment free) ways of overcoming your fear of failure is to fail small and fast! Edit: premature submit! By the way I have the opposite problem. IL build shamelessly but suck at coming up with starting ideas because as an engineer - everything is "just X" for me!
- rootusrootus 4y agoMaybe you should talk to your mom about that.
- flashgordon 4y agoOh I didn't quite get the reference??
- dazc 4y agoIf someone could come up with a tool to overcome my fear of failure that would be great.. Create a startup that offers a platform for individuals to engage in intellectual pursuits without fear of failure by providing them with a safety net in the form of a universal basic income funded by a land value tax. The platform would be open to anyone, with no censorship or IP restrictions, and would allow for the free creation and exchange of knowledge. The startup should focus on cities that have implemented LVT+UBI, such as San Francisco, Seattle, and Boston, to become the intellectual capital of the world. - prottog 4y ago> The startup should focus on cities that have implemented LVT+UBI, such as San Francisco, Seattle, and Boston That's funny! Those cities may be the absolute last in the country to implement a land value tax (though not UBI).
- sschueller 4y agoIt's called universal basic income or a country with a social support system that helps you get back on your feet after failure.
- Loughla 4y agoHonestly. I have three really decent ideas that I think would be helpful for higher education, but I also have a mortgage and am middle-aged. If there were actual social supports that could let me keep my house if my business fails, I would absolutely try all three. I've worked with enough institutions to see the need, to see the funding sources, and to understand how to sell it. But I'm afraid that maybe it's regional and not nation wide.

- MikeDelta 4y agoThere is one thing worse than failure, and that is the regret of not having done it in the first place. Except for cases where failure led to great financial ruin and loss of health etc.
- onion2k 4y agoIf someone could come up with a tool to overcome my fear of failure that would be great I would but it might not succeed.
- danielvaughn 4y agoThat, and being able to connect with domain experts as potential co-founders. I've got several very good ideas but they're in industries where I have no experience.
- user3939382 4y agoI have a rare combination of deep tech and domain knowledge in a couple cases but... maybe some day...
- barelyauser 4y agoHow do you know they are very good?
- danielvaughn 4y agoBecause for most of them, I'm a potential customer and they solve a very unfulfilled need that I know I and many others have. Like, I'm very familiar with the industries as a consumer, but nothing beyond that.

- davesque 4y agoIs your fear of failure actually a proxy for a rational assessment of risk? Because if you don't have much to fall back on, fearing failure is pretty healthy.
- jasfi 4y agoYou need to manage stress better. If you're stopping because of that fear, then try going for a walk. Ashwagandha is great at relieving stress, just don't take it every day.
- aquaVitae 4y agoFor me, what helped was a strong support system, but that not be something that everyone has access to. It would allow you to be a bit risky with your ventures.
