Apple is currently in the process of executing a zero cash strategy to do buybacks at an accelerating rate (currently tracking ~$116B/year in buybacks). Basically, they are intentionally decapitalizing the company. I doubt they are going to all of a sudden try to become a holding company with split focus, and are probably just going to keep increasing buybacks. Buybacks are great because they increase the ownership stake of those who don't take them, including the employees.
