Unicode 6.1 released complete with emoji characters and a pile of poo
- lautis 15y agoEmoji code points (including the pile of poo) have actually been in Unicode since 6.0, but now they've added colored "emoji style" variants for the characters. Previously the standard only defined black and white "text style" glyphs.
- bwarp 15y agoThat has actually made my day!
- wiradikusuma 15y agoDoes Lion support this? (please say Yes)
- robert-boehnke 15y agoDepends on your browser, http://pile-of-poo.inunico.de/ http://pile-of-poo.inunico.de/ works for me in Safari but not Chrome.
- LaGrange 15y agoI just tried this, sending from Verbs (iOS 5 supports emoji since forever), and yes, I can see the ๐โค๐๐ธ๐๐คโ๐๐ฐ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ โ๐๐ฟ๐ฝ๐ฉ๐ต๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ญ๐น๐ฐ๐บ๐๐ฎ๐ท๐ป๐จ๐ฏ๐ธ๐ต๐๐ด๐๐ซ๐๐ with no problem whatsoever :-)
- ConstantineXVI 15y agoDoesn't render in Chrome (likely because they're in a seperate font set), but OSX does include it. And for some reason, it's smiling. https://skitch.com/constantinexvi/g6pbb/untitled https://skitch.com/constantinexvi/g6pbb/untitled
- a_a_r_o_n 15y agoTranslation: "That's a pile of poo. And I mean that in the nicest possible way."
- microtherion 15y agoYes, you can enter the Emoji through the "Special Characterโฆ" item in the Edit menu. Lion even speaks Emoji: say -v Alex '๐ฉ'
- sambeau 15y agoPanic have already bought a poop domain name: http://๐ฉ.la/ http://๐ฉ.la/ read about it here: http://www.panic.com/blog/2011/07/the-worlds-first-emoji-domain/ http://www.panic.com/blog/2011/07/the-worlds-first-emoji-dom...
- ck2 15y agoJust to add something useful to this (pile of poo) A very handy firefox extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/character-identifier/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/character-ide... Highlight the characters you are confused about and right click and get the code points/description for them.
- derleth 15y agoIn addition, if you want to know which font a glyph is coming from, this extension adds "Show Fonts in Selection" to the context menu, in addition to letting you list every font used on the page and where they come from: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fontinfo/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fontinfo/
- derleth 15y agoThe font Symbola already has the PILE OF POO glyph, in addition to a number of glyphs for ancient scripts. http://users.teilar.gr/~g1951d/ http://users.teilar.gr/~g1951d/
- joejohnson 15y agoPile of Poo was actually included in Unicode 6.0
