No, teaching AI to copy an artist's style isn't 'democratization'

- whywhywhywhy 4y agoIf we get caught up in this "ethics" and "copyright" argument and they win there is only one endgame, AI image gen being locked up within Adobe and Getty and you paying $100-200+ a month heck it could even be $1000 a month like a lot of CAD software is, I mean why not? I replaces all other software. End of the day the only ethical image gen AI is one we can run on our own machines, using the law to try and stop it because you feel slighted that your work was derivative enough to clone is only going to screw you and every other artist over later because this isn't going away and its going to replace all current tooling and I promise you that you will be using it instead of drawing manually down the line. Say this as a designer not a developer, it's uncomfortable but I'm seeing where the tide is going the future can't be changed other than if it's tech we all own or if it's tech where companies like Disney get to save money and fire rooms full of CG artists and Adobe/Getty gets to charge us all whatever number they want to use the only viable versions of the tech.
