- jfengel 4y agoEverything people say is a "rhetorical device", including this. Look at what they do. And what they're doing is trading vast amounts of goods and money to Russia, at a time when the West has placed Russia under boycott in the hopes of reducing their ability to prosecute a war. So they may not "recognize" Russia's claim, but they are helping them make it. That device is not rhetorical.
