major shout out to "galaxy" in xscreensaver, which did far more to set the mold for what i thought computing was & could be & helped define my view of the universe at large than I care to admit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBprAm9w-Fo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBprAm9w-Fo
- dylan604 4y agosidebar, but was the microphone used to capture that video inside the hard drive? if not, i hope the user has a back up of that data as i'd be nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs if my drive made loud noises like that could be heard from outside of the case. i'm hoping it was a fan clanging on the cage instead of an hdd.
- actionfromafar 4y agoNah, that HDD is purring like a cat. Sounds like a computer with an MFM disk booting. Soothing. My guess it’s a second computer on the desk just happening to start.
- hdjrjrjdjdhrh 4y agoYeah I do miss computer sounds from the 90s
- hdjrjrjdjdhrh 4y agoTbh that is how computers sounded back then in the 90s... the fan sounds like it has bearing issues ... But yeah that HDD sound is healthy ... There was also a floppy disk starting up at some point in that vid too... All it needs is some 56k modem sounds ....
