I wouldn't pay $8 / month for Twitter Blue, but I'd be willing to pay something for a domain validated checkmark similar to the Bluesky feature that was on here a few weeks ago [1]. I pay $10-20 / year for domains, so something like $20 / year seems reasonable for me to verify my namespace, especially if it helps reduce impersonators, squatters, and bots.
That's not to say I'd never pay $8 per month either. If my Twitter account starts getting used for feedback from users / customers I'd be willing to pay more than $8 / month, especially if it came with tooling that helped me manage everything.
As of now, my Twitter account is unused because I wasn't able to get the handle that matches my domain name. I own 'example.com' and use 'example' everywhere except Twitter. I have 'exampletech' at Twitter which is objectively worse than 'example'. However, if given the choice between having 'example' or 'example.com' as a verified handle, I'd rather have 'example.com'. The verification could be automated and I'd pay for it.
