Twitter, Bucking Own Policy, Adds “State-Affiliated Media” Label to NPR Account
- kosasbest 4y agoMost of Twitter's users are statists and lobby and vouch for their own government, so, nothing to be concerned about. Twitter has been infected with propaganda armies ready to influence any chosen narrative.
- AlbertCory 4y ago> NPR stands for freedom of speech and holding the powerful accountable. well, some of the "powerful" anyway.
- codeddesign 4y agoNPR does receive government funding. If the requirement for the label is that a government funds a particular news agency, then the label would be correct.
- codeddesign 4y agoAnd..I get downvoted for accurate information..haha Per Twitter: “State-affiliated media is defined as outlets where the state exercises control over content through financial resources, direct or indirect political pressures, and/or control over production and distribution.”
- LiquidSky 4y agoYou’re getting downvoted because you didn’t read the article, which is about this very issue. Prior to today, Twitter’s policy also said: “state-financed media organizations with editorial independence, like the BBC in the UK or NPR in the US for example, are not defined as state-affiliated media for the purposes of this policy.” Today they eliminated the clause about NPR, though the BBC one remains. Hence the article’s title.
