That's still the case with good shows but the sheer amount of trash being shoveled out to pad content libraries makes good stuff exceedingly rare. Also consider that everything has to drag out for 5+ seasons to reap as much cash as possible leaving viewers unsatisfied as shows substitute cohesive stories for cheap thrills to string you along begrudingly.
Amazon LotR was far too ambitious and ultimately mediocore at best. They made it clear that this wasn't for fans of the books, it was another underwhelming fantasy series chasing down the success of GoT. They spent far too much money on it, traded diehard Tolkein fans for the wokest writers who probably never read or don't respect the source (see: Netflix Witcher).
Apple's Foundation adaptation suffered the same issue. Although that was considerably more insulting to fans. Harris and Pace are carrying that show to the point I just skipped through any scene they are not in and I missed nothing important.
- PaulHoule 4y agoI like Foundation even though it genderswapped almost as much as the Fate series. (Maybe it’s like Fate got mashed up with the Oprah Winfrey Show.) https://www.world-nuclear-news.org/Articles/Dive-team-enters-Sellafield-pond?feed=feed https://www.world-nuclear-news.org/Articles/Dive-team-enters... I think they did well with difficult subject matter and I’m looking forward to the next season.
- brucethemoose2 4y agoEh that is a bit hyperbolic. There has always been a huge volume of bad TV, which no one remembers. But there is just so much more TV that its hard to even sift through without an aggregator tool with ratings like Reelgood. I would consider Witcher mediocre but not woke, and not Wheel of Time bad. I like Foundation. I havent read the books, but it doesn't feel like any of the cast is misgendered, so to speak.
