Right, the bar should be much, much higher for a programming job. Since there's no challenge in it, no weeding of applicants is performed. To me, though, it's self-defeating to simultaneously accept resumes via email -- it shows there's nothing actually at stake. Don't they want only the smartest, most persistent candidates? It doesn't seem so to me.
