Major medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Endocrine Society, the American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association, have published policy statements and guidelines on how to provide age-appropriate gender-affirming care.
All of those medical societies find such care to be evidence-based and medically necessary.

- geoduck14 4y agoThe AAP says that 0.7 percent of teens [0] identify as transgender. Is that right? That sounds really low given all of the attention this topic is getting. - Karawebnetwork 4y agoYes, only a tiny minority of human beings are transgender. Even in cultures where the concept of a third gender is celebrated, it is a rare phenomenon. Canada is the first country to provide census data on transgender and non-binary people: "Of the nearly 30.5 million people in Canada aged 15 and older living in a private household in May 2021, 100,815 were transgender (59,460) or non-binary (41,355), accounting for 0.33% of the population in this age group."
