" After hearing both sides, the district court of Hamburg ruled on the matter last week, handing a clear win to the music companies" The "district court of Hamburg" always sides with music companies.

Germany is worse than the US for these cases. I can't imagine hosting a project like youtube-dl on servers there.

haha whenever one of these threads come up i claim that i was the first person to write a tool in this category because it was too hard to watch google video (youtube wasnt as popular yet) on my 56k modem. https://gvdownloader.sourceforge.net/ https://gvdownloader.sourceforge.net/ I updated it a few times, but google became more aggressive as all the freeware vendors started to add it to their catelogs and promote it. it wasnt a game i was prepared to play, although i probably could of made some decent cash from it if i pursued it. https://sourceforge.net/projects/gvdownloader/files/gvdownloader/GVDownloader%201.8.0/stats/timeline?dates=2006-01-05+to+2023-04-05 https://sourceforge.net/projects/gvdownloader/files/gvdownlo...
