Yes. Elon Musk needs monetary tokens in Mars. Very soon you can purchase coins valued in Martian assets. Mars soil is quite worthless at the moment, but every nut and bolt, every outhouse means huge investment in transport costs. Martian economy is based on these tokens: a barrel of beer may cost millions in earthly money, but martian workers are also paid accordingly.
- verdverm 4y agoWhy would they not make bolts & beer on Mars? The main point is, getting the initial setup will cost a lot, but Elon's intention for Mars is self-sustainability, which means no dependence on Earth & a separate economy.
