Putting aside the actual excuse given (I wasn't paying attention), the letter is extremely well written and worth reading. Makes me sympathize with some of the politicians who got hoodwinked into passing this "treaty" without understanding its implications. Which is still no excuse for signing something you don't understand, but nonetheless, we're all human and imperfect sometimes.
