To commute to work, I can take a highway or I can take a series of backroads 4x the distance, with maybe 20% having bike lanes. It would be very dangerous to attempt to bike either route. I'm driving a Leaf EV but would consider a smaller (2-seater / 1-seater) electric vehicle if they were sold and road legal in the US.
