This channel actually had an automated parking test with many different EVs, and Tesla's performance was pretty all over the place there too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsb2XBAIWyA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsb2XBAIWyA
- kfarr 4y agoYes basically any car north of 30k usually has little dots in front and back for the ultrasonic sensors. Basically standard for most cars these days. Very cheap, very effective
- mrguyorama 4y agoThey are so cheap they get installed in base models that don't even have the parking assist feature activated, often because they are used for other features like blind spot assist and reverse warning.
- jrochkind1 4y agoThis makes it seem especially weird that Tesla is removing them, right?
- kfarr 4y agoYes agreed. It reminds me of the change a few years ago to remove radar (or was it ultrasonic?) from the FSD hardware to go vision only. Which they seem to be reversing again? https://www.extremetech.com/cars/341409-tesla-may-bring-back-radar-autopilot-hardware-abandon-vision-only-approach https://www.extremetech.com/cars/341409-tesla-may-bring-back...
