If you're into interviewers who go the extra mile to give the interviewee and the viewer a good experience, I also recommend a Canadian named John Ruskin, who also goes by the name Nardwuar the Human Serviette. He's a music geek (in the best way) who interviews musicians and gives them gifts as a way to disarm them and spark discussion, and they're often blown away by the research he does into the gifts he gives and the questions he asks.
Here's an example he did with Pharrell Williams from the group NERD [1]. Quote from Pharrell: "This is one of the most impressive interviews I've ever experienced in my life... your research is second-to-none."

- Wojtkie 4y agoSome of the rappers he interviews get very paranoid when he pulls up those deep cuts from his research. It can be pretty funny to watch.
- mxkopy 4y ago"Are you a fed? Are you the f**ing feds right now?" - Denzel Curry https://youtu.be/tAPhvNmzDHU https://youtu.be/tAPhvNmzDHU
- tripdout 4y ago"Young Hermit Crab, how you know about that? My rap name - I was Young Hermit Crab for a week. For a week! And you know this" - Ugly God "You with the feds?" - Tyler The Creator "How do you know this?" "You're Lil Uzi, we have to know it!" "I'm glad I'm a good guy cause if I was under investigation for something, I'd be scared right now" - Lil Uzi Vert And there's a whole bunch of compilations of artists freaking out during his interviews on YouTube.
- xemoka 4y agoCanadaland did a great feature on him: ep#313 as a history of his work, and then a rare interview with him in ep#314. - 4gotunameagain 4y agoThe reactions to his research are interesting, but oh my God can I not withstand the obnoxious voice and mannerisms. Why that ?
- blast 4y agoHe's brilliant and how he comes up with that stuff is beyond me. At the same time, he's creepily aggressive with guests, I find him excruciating to watch. (Not because of the speech mannerisms.) If they don't do what he wants, like repeating his little do-doo thing at the end, he really ups the ante on them.
