It's still stupid. It costs Apple a minimal amount extra to vastly improve the utility of their devices with 16GB RAM and 512/1TB drives by default. But they're cutting corners here in search of product segmentation and profit, so much so customers will genuinely be suffering because of their choices.
- re-thc 4y agoDoes it matter what it costs Apple? The locksmith only takes ~5minutes to open a lock and yet...
- lakecresva 4y agoYes, the way consumers perceive your pricing matters. If you lose a key, you need to call a locksmith; it's rare that someone needs to buy a new apple laptop.
- re-thc 4y agoIs it rare? There are so many startups that come and go and they buy laptops (new) for employees...
- lakecresva 4y agoSure, and their options include literally everything else on the market, including older macbooks. You're missing the point by a mile.
- re-thc 4y agoWhat's your point? That it doesn't hurt Apple's bottom line so why not? Cost of materials should not dictate the final price. There's always a lot more to it.
- CoolGuySteve 4y agoWell yeah, it does matter. People aren't buying them at the current price point.
- juve1996 4y agoThey aren't buying other laptops either. It's a market problem.
- fomine3 4y agoIt's pain because not only the CTO option is quite expensive, but also CTO models aren't sold and discounted well at market.
