Schools should follow one or the other. My father was a Drill Instructor Dad, always yelling at me, ordering me around. But he let me play outside with my friends in the streets and parks. Back then you didn't have to worry about pedophiles grabbing kids or school shooters. So I can see why some parents want to be helicopter parents. But you want your child to grow up independent from you so they can do their own thing. You don't want the dependence for the day you die, they won't know what to do.
