I wonder if there is a large difference in audience. Pickups are kind of just minivans for today’s smaller families, with a little different cultural associations. Large cities are packed full of them. The long distance of AM is nice for high school sports. Every now and then I try to tune a little high school football in on the car radio, and it’s niche enough programming that it’s not as if I can change to a different station carrying it when I go out of range. Even pro sports I prefer AM for, who knows why.
