God I've been feeling this lately. Manager turned into full micromanage mode. I started regretting waking up and checking slack, because there'd be an "Any updates on X?" message sitting there, often coupled with some passive aggressive remark. When I feel like I have more autonomy, I intuitively feel the urgency and act appropriately, updating people as updates happen.
