we need a mandatory, enforced, mute functionality in all media apps. the button is extra. most apps are ignoring your volume settings. they all seem to have their own settings. tiktok is my go-to example. i seldom open the app because i have no idea how loud the video my friends sent me is. the app doesn't not respect my volume settings or have a mute setting. and i have the silent mode turned on. i have also noticed that many people have given up on trying to figure it out. and we are losing a basic courtesy such as keeping your devices quiet in public places. apps like tiktok could be the main culprit here.
