My dream: a visible cue on screen telling me if my iPhone is muted, instead of having to feel the switch in the dark to try to determine if I will embarrass myself in the cinema…
Since now it will not be possible to see if I’m mute or not while looking at the button, I assume a visible cue on the screen will be mandatory.
- brookst 4y agoYou don’t have to feel the position, just flip it. If there is no tactile feedback you’ve just switched from silent to loud, so flip it again. If it gives tactile feedback, it was on loud and is no silent. I expect the purported solid state switch would work the same way; some tactile feedback for the mode.
- illiac786 4y agoHa. I never noticed this. My point was: I hope apple decided a visual indication on screen was not required because the switch is red when muted, hence there is already a visual indicator. Hence: no physical visual indicator anymore => introduction of an on-screen visual indicator
