Being European I have traveled to plenty of it's cities. I don't think I would want to live in the city centers of any of them. And there is really no need for it. Walkability and public transport is usually exceptionally good. My observation of Stockholm as a tourist is that it is really easy to get around there on a bike, so I don't see the need to live smack in downtown where the price is going to be the highest (especially when you can't afford it).
