- jleyank 4y agoI think folks in the uk were supposed to take up the lower-pay/status jobs opened up when the non-natives left but that didn’t seem to happen. No idea why natives weren’t interested. Perhaps they all should have realized that reintroducing immigration barriers would limit the pool of people who’d do hard work for peanuts. Covid, retiring boomers, wfh, these things didn’t help either. Maybe they need some kind of national service where people can be drafted to fill these slots?
