Elon Musk's vendetta against the mass media is selective but welcome imo. The 'free press' has long given up its role in speaking truth to power and instead has become an amplification organ for government policy, especially foreign policy, where editorial seems to be vetted by the State department, whilst sub editorial infiltrated by spies
Musk is an entirely inadequate messenger (much like Trump in 2016) but somebody has got to equalise / neutralise the propaganda, even if it is with often comparable BS
- version_five 4y agoThis is a good take. He's obviously trolling, but it's much better to have a troll shake things up a bit than preserve the status quo. Chaotic Good Twitter is much better than Lawful Evil.
- hunglee2 4y agoI think you are absolutely do D&D alignment chart on this. Musk as Chaotic Good is about right. Lets say Trump is Chaotic Evil (I think most would agree). There is plenty of Lawful Evil at the top of immensely powerful bureaucracies who do not have the interests of the people (any people) at heart
- bentt 4y agoI used to think of him as Chaotic Good. His handling of Twitter employees (especially that recent guy from Sweden) convinced me that he has flipped to evil. Not irredeemable like Trump, but taking on a delusional air of persecution like many dictators before him.
- hunglee2 4y agothat's fair. However, I think evil in D&D schema is malevolent and I am not sure that is exactly what Musk is. Careless of people's feelings and impact - perhaps Chaotic Neutral for him, Chaotic Evil for Trump? (even Trump might be described as Chaotic Neutral)
