The only way to win is to stop playing the game by avoiding the "best" (more expensive) neighborhoods and towns.
If you work remotely, as software developers can, you don't have to give up salary either.
- arthur_sav 4y agoBingo. I moved to a lower tax country and my income almost doubled (no more 50% Swedish tax). Sweden is a bad deal high earners.
- brodo 4y agoWhat country did you move to?
- knallfrosch 4y agoProbably Spain. You're destroying their property market, but at least you're on the winning side this time.
- arthur_sav 4y agoI wouldn't consider Spain low tax. Perhaps lower than Sweden but it's not low. UAE
- arthur_sav 4y agoUAE
- 4gotunameagain 4y agoSo instead of contributing back to the Swedish welfare state that raised and educated you, you decide to move to a petrodollar country so you spend less on taxes. I get it. Sounds sustainable and not the least egocentric.
- badpun 4y agoUnless he was an orphan and raised in a state orphanage, his parents already paid a lot of taxes, which presumably covered the education of their children?
- rullelito 4y agoCan't recommend this more. I moved out of Sweden and worked in UK tech for 7 years, earned a filthy amount of money, and are now moving back to Sweden to settle down.
- lawn 4y agoI stayed in Sweden but moved away from the towns and my effective income almost doubled as well.
