The recall has been removed from nhtsa's site. Also, why is it completely impossible to search for recalls except by specifying a VIN, or make and model and model year and model AND keywords? The system seems expressly designed to discourage or prevent someone from seeing all recalls for a particular model or series, like, say, if they're shopping around and want to see which vehicles have had the most recalls.
It is truly amazing that Tesla has managed to fuck up what is (and must be) the simplest and most reliable part of a semi truck.
Wanna bet that instead of the thing on the dash being a mechanical valve, it's actually a button that actuates an electronic valve elsewhere, because some idiot Tesla engineer thought it would be smarter?
- rcdemski 4y agoIt’s simpler. The supplier of the part they bought off the shelf had a larger recall of several hundred units https://www.aboutautomobile.com/Equipment/Safety-Recall/Bendix/Intellipark/23E015000 https://www.aboutautomobile.com/Equipment/Safety-Recall/Bend...
- userbinator 4y agoIn other words... Wanna bet that instead of the thing on the dash being a mechanical valve, it's actually a button that actuates an electronic valve elsewhere, because some idiot Tesla engineer thought it would be smarter Replace Tesla with Bendix and that would be closer to the truth. Search "Bendix Intellipark" for some more information. It does replace the mechanical valve with an electronic switch. (Bendix was a good brand and they made a lot of brake stuff, but my experience with them is decades old.)
- epgui 4y agoThis news is already a few days old, and all of the information about what happened is out, so there's absolutely no need to speculate.
- simonw 4y agoLooks like you can get at the NHTSA data using their API. It does up to 50 a page - here's the paginated output for (I think) model year 2020: https://api.nhtsa.gov/vehicles/bySearch?productDetail=all&data=none&query=2020&dateStart=&dateEnd=&max=50&name= https://api.nhtsa.gov/vehicles/bySearch?productDetail=all&da... So you could iterate through that for all of 2020, then for 2019, then 2018 etc. Looks like you can get detailed recall information for a specific make/model/year from this API: https://api.nhtsa.gov/recalls/recallsByVehicle?modelYear=2021&make=TOYOTA&model=RAV4%20PRIME https://api.nhtsa.gov/recalls/recallsByVehicle?modelYear=202...
