I thought I was immune to being fooled online. Then I saw the pope in a coat
- King-Aaron 4y agoI was legitimately surprised that people thought that was a real image.
- karmakaze 4y ago> Here’s the thing: I actually wondered, “Is this image AI?” when I first saw it. I pinched and zoomed in. I checked the hands (like all young artists, AI struggles with hands). They looked normal and real. He seemed to be carrying a small sack of what I assumed was “Pope Salts”, and I thought that detail was too textured for what AI was doing. We're at the point of AI/ML history where it's pace of improvement will continue to be underestimated my most. This is in contrast to the slow pace up to when Deep NNs started to become effective not all that long ago. Funny thing is that the 'corner' in an exponential hockey stick curve isn't different than the rest of it.
