Intel Roadmap Update Includes 144-Core Sierra Forest, Clearwater Forest in 2025
- smoldesu 4y agoNvidia's Grace chip is also a 144-Core die (rather 2x72), it will be very interesting to compare the two once they're on the market.
- dzonga 4y agohardware goes zap. software goes ehh eck. slow as hell. most people these days, don't realize how fast processors are. consumer cpu's these days can be 6 cores / 12 thread for around 200$. you talk about server cpu's you're talking 96 core. at $job I reminded people that using things like node is letting us down if we're server rendering billions of html pages. we can't do that at scale cz the language is letting us down. not the hardware. with a fast language then add a fast processor - you do magical things.
- fomine3 4y ago> Yes, many AI models are far too large to run on CPUs, and most training workloads will remain in the domain of GPUs and custom silicon Isn't it CPU is better for this perspective, thanks to cheaper and easily upgradable RAM? (unless have $$$ to buy DGX)
