I don’t know about GH specifically but based on what I’ve observed at other companies, some of the common issues are massive salary inflation over the past 2 years in India which is now reversing. I suspect they hired a lot of people at very high salaries and raised the salaries of existing employees to those levels as well. If the team isn’t integral enough, it probably made sense to replace them with contractors while they rebuild the permanent team at a lower salary base.
