Ask HN: How is Ray Kurzweil doing?
I feel like he would have a lot to say about these past few weeks. Anyone know how he surfaces these days? I checked out his site, found an empty twitter profile, etc. Just curious what he'd say about all this - thought I suppose it's probably predictable because he's been saying the same things for a while and now they're here.
I guess I just wonder if he is feeling any vindication about the pace of progress in the face of so much naysaying over the decades.
- menshiki 4y agoHe published a book in Sep 2022. The interview with Fridman was also around that time. I doubt his views changed much since the publication of those two.
- thanatos519 4y agoThat's an interesting question. I would have expected him to have something to say about all of this.
- cryptoz 4y agoAh, I found something, he spoke just a few days ago at #Abundance360, see for example (scroll a bit) https://twitter.com/search?q=ray%20Kurzweil https://twitter.com/search?q=ray%20Kurzweil Not sure of the content yet, will have to look at it later. But happy he's around and talking about it all!
- csh0 4y agoWikipedia suggests he was hired by Google in 2012 to work on NLP.[0] I also found an interview with him and Lex Friedman, though it is from Sept 2022[1] [0]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Kurzweil https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Kurzweil [1]https://lexfridman.com/ray-kurzweil/ https://lexfridman.com/ray-kurzweil/
- seydor 4y agonaysaying comes and goes, in waves. I'm sure that the past 3 months have been a great decade for him
- wageslave99 4y agoI read "The Age of the Spiritual Machines" and thought that he had a good points, and I liked the ideas he showed in the book. However, I thought that he was a bit optimistic about the timeline and capabilities of these "spiritual machines". Now? I'm sure he was not wrong at all.
