There is no "left" in the US, not in mainstream politics anyway. The words needed to have a sensible political discussion are ill-defined and only add noise. I'm afraid it's beyond repair: we need a new vocab to discuss social issues, or we will never have the discussion at scale (and are doomed to live under capitalism until the collapse into autoritrianism).
