  Now imagine you did this using one of those AI voice mimicking algorithms that can make it sound like Barack Obama is saying anything you want him to say. Then imagine you send someone a text that says, "Hey, this is [friend]. I just switched to Verizon. Can you call me? I need to talk about something." I'm not sure how or when, but we're going to need cryptographic identity verification for everyone we know, every time we interact with them digitally.

    lol, I tried but the cost is insane. I'm now thinking in how to apply this technology to other areas. tbh I just wanted to create a cool project over the weekend, any support is appreciated. This is my first Hacker New post :)

I haven't seen much media coverage of that kind of thing, but the social engineering potential for these tools is terrifying and you could probably get some recognition from showing people you'd done it.
