I fear it's more like "a butler for our minds".
The more it serves us, the more indulgent, flaccid and incapable we will become. When our butler invitably degrades, we will have forgotten how to serve ourselves. At least with bicycles we were still pedalling.
- meghan_rain 4y ago> When our butler invitably degrades Why should it? Any more than, say, the global economic system providing us with gasoline at the gas station, which we rely on?
- ThrowawayR2 4y agoRather a dubious choice of analogy since there was a massive gasoline shortage in the US in the 1970s: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/piapeterson/photos-1970s-fuel-shortage-prices https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/piapeterson/photos-1970...
- zamnos 4y agoIs it though? Despite that hiccup in the gasoline supply chain, we're only just now, 50 years later, getting away from the ICE to electric cars.
